House Rules and Cancellation Policy

Please read our policy carefully as it is not common for us to make an exception for it. In order to avoid any misunderstandings, we would appreciate your paying attention to the following:


Check-in begins at 3:00pm and check-out is at 10:00am. A valid government issued ID is required to receive room keys.


Complimentary Wi-Fi available for all guests.


Complimentary on-site parking is available for all hotel guests. 


Any visitors other than the named guests on the reservation are prohibited past 10pm. All guests are to respect the rights and privacy of all other guests and employees of the Inn.


Accessibility: Please note that due to the historic nature of the Inn, there is no elevator access on premises. We have stairwell access in front of the house leading to our upstairs rooms, but please be mindful as the indoor stairs were built in 1740 and kept in the original state. Caution using these stairs is highly recommended. Some guests may prefer to stay on the first floor and avoid the stairs. There will be outside stairway access located on the eastern side of the building for access to upstairs rooms as well. Our Stanton Rooms are located on the western part of the building. Each Stanton room comes with keyless entry. For any other questions regarding accessibility of our property, please contact us or stop by. Our staff is happy to assist.


Adding additional guests after reservation has been booked: If you need to add any additional guests to your reservation after it has already been booked, there will still be a $50 fee per person upcharge after the first initial 2 guests that are allotted in the booking. 


Deposit & Cancellation Policy: A valid debit/credit card is required for each reservation. The General Stanton Inn has a strict 14-day cancellation policy. Cancellations and changes to reservations must be made at least 14 days prior to arrival or else any paid nights will not be refunded. In the event of a no show, the reservation is subject to the full amount of the stay and will not be refunded. Guests with non-cancellable reservations will be liable for the full amount of their original booking.


Taxes & Fees: Rhode Island has a 13% hotel tax which includes a 7 % sales tax, 5% state hotel tax and a 1% local hotel tax.


Non-Smoking Policy: Guest rooms, as well as all public areas of the Inn, including our Tavern, are all 100% smoke-free. Any guest found in the act or within evidence of smoking while inside any location of the Inn will be charged a $500 cleaning fee.


Pet Policy: Pets are not permitted.


Lost Room Keys: All guests staying in rooms 1 - 9 will receive a set of hard keys for their room upon check-in. Once the guests have these keys in their possession, they will be completely responsible for the keys to return to us at check-out. In the event that a set of keys is lost and not returned, there will be a $250 fee to cover the cost of the door lock being changed.


Loss or Damages: The General Stanton Inn is not liable or responsible for any items lost or left behind in guest rooms or their vehicles on the premises. Guests should ensure their hotel room door is always properly closed and secure. The General Stanton Inn also reserves the right to charge for any damages or loss to hotel properties that is inflicted by the guest and/or guest visitors.

The undersigned agrees that all information displayed is accurate. 

The undersigned agrees to make immediate payment of all charges incurred upon receipt of statement or on departure, any charges after departure will be charged to the method of payment marked and a statement will be forwarded by post.

In case of any charges not cleared at the time of checkout, The credit card information and the acknowledgement on this registration card will be considered as the authorization for the uncharged settled amounts.             

All disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of Rhode Island Courts only.

I have gone through the Terms and Conditions governing my stay in the Hotel and agree to abide by them.


*For reasons of the COVID-19 pandemic, if the guest cancels with less than 14 days, the beds will be opened for sale, and in case the beds are sold, the guest can use their advance payment for a future reservation within the next 12 months. You must attach a positive test.
